Myeloproliferative neoplasm (MPN) is a type of cancer that occurs in the bone marrow. In this condition, your bone marrow starts creating one or different types of blood cells in large amounts, such as red blood cells, platelets, and white blood cells. And this situation can affect the thickness of your blood. These large numbers of blood cells can crowd your bone marrow, preventing it from making new, healthy blood cells.
