A pancreaticoduodenectomy is another name for the Whipple procedure. Most cancer patients know what is a Whipple procedure as it is the most common surgical treatment for pancreatic cancer that has spread to the gland’s head. In this procedure, the pancreatic head, duodenum, and a section of the intestine, gallbladder, and accompanying lymph nodes are the organs that are being removed.
